Detroit Red Wings prospect Elmer Soderblom (159th, 2019) scored his second goal in 29 games to help the Grand Rapids Griffins earn one point in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Texas Stars.

Arttu Hyry scored a power play in overtime for the game-winner.  Dominik Shine was in the penalty box for a double-minor.

Griffins goalie Sebastian Cossa made 27 saves. He now boasts a 10-5-3 record an 2.31 GAA. Griffins’ defenseman Shai Buium (36th, 2021) earned an assist on Soderblom’s goal. Off to a strong start to his pro career, he has posted nine assists in 25 games.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

The Jake Walman deal isn’t aging very well for the Red Wings.

Bob Duff writes that it won’t be an easy fix for GM Steve Yzerman to clean up the Red Wings. They could look like this again next season.

Still no official word about the extent of defenseman Ben Chiarot‘s injury. We will know more today, probably after the morning skate.

Red Wings Extra

Coach Derek Lalonde’s Detroit team is home to face the St. Louis Blues tonight at Little Caesars Arena (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network). The Red Wings are eight points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Blues, meanwhile, are five points out of a postseason berth in the Western Conference. This is a game the Red Wings need to win: the Blues have lost three in a row and five out of their last six.
