Red Wings at Jets: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

The new-look Red Wings face their next big test tonight, when they play the high-flying Jets in Winnipeg.

The Jets have the best record in the NHL and have been battling Vegas for the top spot in the Western Conference all season.

Before the coaching change, this could have been a game the Red Wings would have been present for, but the outcome likely wouldn’t be a mystery.

But the Red Wings beat Washington, the top team in the East, to start the three-game winning streak they currently enjoy.

So there’s a lot more suspense going into tonight’s game than there maybe would have just two weeks ago.

The Jets, meanwhile, are coming off a loss to Anaheim on Thursday night.

Goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who played his high school hockey at Lakeland Area in Waterford, is shooting for his 300th career win tonight.

Jeff Petry is out after leaving Thursday’s game with an injury. There should be news about his status sometime today.

The well-traveled William Lagesson will take his place tonight.

During Thursday’s game, the announcers talked a lot about the weather in Winnipeg, and with good reason: They’re having a bit of a cold snap up there.

Today’s high  will be -9 degrees. As in below zero. But at least it’s sunny.
