The Daily: More Bad Luck for Zadina; No Petry News
Filip Zadina undoubtedly was looking for a fresh start when he moved to the Swiss National League — an opportunity to use his talent to be an impact performer in a new league.
But the bad luck that plagued him in the NHL has followed him to Europe.
The 2018 Red Wings first-round pick, now playing for HC Davos, suffered an upper body injury while playing for the team at the historic Spengler Cup tournament. The Swiss League reported he will be out four weeks.
Zadina had put up 15 goals and eight assists in the Swiss League before the Spengler Cup and he added two goals and an assist for Davos in three games at that tournament.
A few days into his injury recovery, Zadina is still tied for fifth in the Swiss league’s goal scoring race.
By the way, former Detroit player Dominik Kubalik is tied for third in the Swiss League with 16 goals for Ambri-Piotta.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It
Detroit prospect Jesse Kiiskinen says he still hasn’t played his best hockey for Finland at the World Junior Championships.
No word on Jeff Petry‘s injury status, but Detroit’s the recall of William Lagesson from Grand Rapids suggests Petry may not be ready to play.
Axel Sandin Pellikka, Detroit’s top prospect, is more interested in team success than breaking WJC individual records.
Red Wings Extra
Coach Todd McLellan’s squad plays the Winnipeg Jets tonight (7 p.m., ET) with a chance to register a four-game winning streak for the first time this season. In Detroit’s three-game streak, the team has scored 13 goals and given up eight. Alex DeBrincat has three goals and three assists during the three-game streak. The Red Wings are playing more confidently under McLellan than they did under Derek Lalonde.
