Red Wings The Real Winner in WJC Gold Medal Game (DHN+)

Americans Trey Augustine and Max Plante captured gold medals at the World Junior Championships. But the Detroit Red Wings may have been the big winner in the gold medal game.

The Red Wings had four top prospects in the tournament, and each of them showed why they deserved to be mentioned as one of Detroit’s top prospects:

Axel Sandin Pellikka, Defenseman, Skelleftea (SHL)

Sandin Pellikka was clearly disappointed that Sweden didn’t come away with a medal.  He was the captain of the talented Swedish bunch. The Swedes have a long history of team disappointment in this tournament, and this year was no exception. They lost a semifinal to Finland and the bronze medal game to Czechia.
