The Daily: McLellan Uncovers Missing Goals; Bruins Discord?
The Todd McLellan first few weeks as the Detroit Red Wings coach has included some quality detective work in solving the mystery of the missing scoring.
McLellan discovered the goals were still there, just locked away by a lack of confidence, imprisoned by a restrictive offensive system.
Since McLellan took over, the Red Wings have played seven games and scored four or more goals five times. They netted three goals in another game. That’s a noteworthy accomplishment for a team that was nearer to an average of 2.5 than three goals per game.
The Red Wings simply are shooting more than they did before Christmas.
In the Red Wings’ 5-3 win against the Chicago Blackhawks Friday, Detroit got goals from two rookies (Marco Kasper and Albert Johansson) and another player (Andrew Copp) who had gone 12 games without a goal. The team’s top two lines are producing, and others are joining in.
Empty net goal for Detroit!
Scored by Marco Kasper with 01:39 remaining in the 3rd period.
Assisted by Simon Edvinsson.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It
Czech legend and former Detroit player Vaclav Nedoalmansky takes a verbal shot at the Russians.
Rookie Albert Johansson scored his first NHL goal in the win against Chicago.
Todd McLellan‘s team needs to take advantage of the next two home games.

Boston: The Bruins lay into radio announce Rich Keefe for claiming there’s tension between Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. Boston Bruins.
Colorado: Colleen Flynn offers her midseason report on the state of the Colorado Avalanche.
Pittsburgh: Big problems have led to huge solutions for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
That’s the mark of a good coach.
Getting the most out of the team.
There’s still 2 players who can be better.
Tarasenko and Rasmussen.
They’re currently on milk cartons.
But overall, McLellan is finding his way and getting results. 😁
I’m glad Marchand called out that reporter and stuck up for his teammate, Pastrnak.
Too many times “writers” print lies and are not held accountable.
It’s about time a player clapped back.
Wonder what is going on with Tarasenko and Rasmussen? Is it a nagging injury? Or just not doing well concurrently? I do not like that the Wings are tied into Ras for a few more years and Tarasenko next year.
Here we go again. Trolls are out.
I am with ya on the media sensationalism. Max Bultman has been writing stuff into his articles that have such a bent. Seems to be all about selling. Even Elias and Miller. Elias stated it was not true. I really dislike such media coverage like that.
More trolls.
Troll city alert.
Keep It coming cowards!
I’m winning The Masters!
Another green jacket for me! ⛳
Exactly. They do not like it. Cannot even carry a conversation. Yet they deem themselves fans.
Do you know for a fact that there is no tension between the two players or are you just assuming that the Boston reporter is making this up?
Boston guy (Rich Keefe)is not a credible writer.
He has a history of making things up.
Marchand made it pretty clear.
But you believe what you want to believe.
Exactly.
Each time I post a link on here it gets erased.
But I did see Bruins current coach Joe Sacco basically say what Keefe says isn’t true.
Sacco has been in Boston for the last 10 years mostly as an assistant coach.
The Bruins players also laughed at it.
Agree with you sir. I have seen Rasmussen do well in flashes. Sorry I think Tarasenko could be near the end of h is career. One of the best things this coach does is give everybody a chance to contribute. Look at the rookie Johannsen the rookie defenseman. He barely saw any ice time and he scores an important goal last nite.1
I’m happy for Johansson but he only got his chance when Petry got injured.
Glad he took advantage of it.
McLellan just seems to know what he’s doing. 😁
It’s obvious now just how far into their heads LaLonde was. Everything looks so fluid now. It’s not like McLellan just taught them to support the puck carrier, or how to breakdown defense coverages, have good zone exits, and entries, he’s just free’d them from overthinking.
