Red Wings vs. Kraken: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

The Detroit Red Wings continue their schedule sojourn through the dregs of the Western Conference this afternoon, when they will play host to the Seattle Kraken.
The Kraken, coached by former Red Wings assistant Dan Bylsma, are tied with Anaheim for 12th place in the West and are on a five-game road trip that included a 6-2 win over Buffalo last night. It ended a four-game losing streak and left Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff fuming.
The Wings begin the second half of the season today, four points out of a playoff spot and needing a win to keep pace with Columbus, which currently occupies the eighth spot in the East.
They’ve won their last six games, which have lifted them back into playoff consideration, but with seven teams within five points of each other for that final spot, the Wings can’t afford many missteps, if any, the rest of the way.
The story of the Red Wings this season has been the surge since the coaching change and a shift in offensive philosophies , as Patrick Kane explains.
Today’s game is a golden opportunity for the Red Wings to make some hay at home and keep up in the East.
As for the Wings, Alex Lyon and Jeff Petry are still out, and old friend Daniel Sprong, who signed with Seattle over the summer won’t be there. He was placed on waviers by the team earlier this week, and assigned to Coachella Valley of the AHL.
