Red Wings at Lightning: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

Fresh off a rare win at Florida, the Detroit Red Wings are in friendlier climes, at least recently.

The Wings take on Tampa Bay tonight, where they have won four of the last six meetings. Before that however, Detroit had lost 17 in a row and they are at Dallas tomorrow, where they have lost 11 in a row.

It’s the second game of. four-game gauntlet for Detroit, and a .500 road trip would be welcome, to be sure.

Detroit has worked itself into a position where they have to focus on one game at a time while at least keeping the large picture in the background.

The Wings are three points out of the playoffs, trailing the Boston Bruins for the eighth playoff spot

Certainly, the combination of a resurgent offense and tough love from coach Todd McLellan has worked.

The Lightning are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference,  five points ahead of Detroit.

Tampa Bay has adjusted its power play to try and get more production, while the Red Wings have been one of the NHL’s better power-play teams while also being at the bottom of the NHL in penalty kill.

One thing is for certain: A lot of fans will be making good use of their picture-in-picture feature tonight so as to keep track of both the Red Wings and the Lions, whose games will overlap.

You wonder if the Red Wings fans in attendance in Tampa will get off some “Ja-red Goff!” cheers during the game.
