The Daily: Larkin Joins 700 Club; Devils Goalie Injury Not As Bad As Feared

Dylan Larkin played in his 700th career game for the Red Wings on Thursday night and marked the occasion with a goal and an assist in Detroit’s 4-2 win.
Larkin is the second-youngest Red Wing to reach the milestone, behind only Steve Yzerman.
The Wings had a season-high 45 shots on net and their defense kept the Canadiens corrralled for much of the evening.
Detroit is back in action Saturday night, at home game against Tampa Bay. The Wings lost to the Lightning in Tampa last weekend.
Red Wings In Case You Missed It
Detroit got a small measure of revenge in Thursday’s win over Montrreal and the penalty kill was a factor. The PK, ranked 31st in the NHL, held Montreal at bay and even got a shorthanded goal from Andrew Coop. The Wings killed off three Montreal man-advantages.in their 5-2 victory.
“Teams are probably coming in thinking they can take advantage of our penalty kill because our numbers have not been good,” Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said. “They had a chance to strike and swing the momentum back to their side, but our group did a real good job.”
The performance was a morale boost, too.
“It’s huge that the coach trusted us to get that kill,” defenseman Moritz Seider said. “It’s obviously a good feeling to know that, and we did the job. That gave us a big boost.”
