Detroit Red Wings
Red Wings at Oilers: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

Something’s going to give tonight when the Detroit Red Wings begin a four-game road trip at Edmonton.
Both teams go into the game on three-game winning streaks.
The Red Wings are looking to keep their post-Christmas surge going, although in the jam-packed Eastern Conference race they lose ground by not playing as well as with a loss.
When they finished off the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night, the Red Wings were two points out of a playoff spot.
Now they are four points out, but could leapfrog a couple of teams with a win tonight. They’ll have a good idea of where they stand going in, as their game is starting as the rest of the league is wrapping up their contests.
Edmonton, third in the West, will have starting goalie Stuart Skinner back in net tonight.
He missed Monday’s win over Seattle due to his wife giving birth to his second son. The Oilers have former Red Wing Calvin Pickard in reserve and signed a college goalie to be his backup on Monday.
The Red Wings flew to Edmonton on Wednesday, with Jeff Petry the only player not to make the trip, which means his indefinite stay on the injured list is going to be that much longer.
Vladimir Tarasenko, who was out Monday with a virus, is expected to play, but Patrick Kane isn’t. J.T. Compher made the trip but is out as well. But the fact they are on the trip could mean the Wings might activate them as soon as this weekend.
Dominik Shine, who made his NHL debut on Monday, is going on the trip because of the injury uncertainty.
