Detroit Red Wings
Historic Trip For Red Wings
Detroit has never gone 4-0 on a road trip and not made the playoffs

That they’ve made their move into a playoff spot would probably be enough to make the Detroit Red Wings four-game Western road trip a remarkable experience.
It was also a history-making journey for the club. Going 4-0 with wins at Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Seattle, Detroit did something for the first time in nearly three decades and for only the fifth time in the storied history of the franchise.
The last time the Red Wings were completing a sweep of a four-game road trip was in March of 1996, en route to what was then an NHL-record 62 victories.
Red Wings In Seventh Heaven
“Hopefully it’s only the beginning,” defenseman Moritz Seider said. “I mean hopefully there are many more.
“I mean we just have won seven in a row again, swept the road trip.”
Seider is correct. Detroit has now assembled a pair of seven-game winning streaks since Todd McLellan took over as coach on December 26.
Let’s look back at the other Red Wings four-game road trip sweeps.
