The Daily: KHL Star Has Red Wings Intrigued; Crosby Honored

History has shown us that not every KHL star will be an impact performer in the NHL.

Sometimes, a team gets Kirill Kaprizov or Artemi Panarin. Sometimes a team lands Vadim Shipachvov or Sergei Plotnikov.

Determining what KHL success will mean in the NHL can be tricky business. But even with the uncertainty, it’s certainly entertaining to guess what Detroit Red Wings prospect Dmitri Buchelnikov will be like when he gets to North America.

What we know about Buchelnikov: He has 41 points in 50 games for Poldosk Vityaz, a weaker KHL team. We know he boasts impressive playmaking skills. Also, he has an entertaining personality. What we don’t know is when he’s coming to North America and whether his skill level will hold up against the bigger, stronger NHL game.
