The Daily: Griffins End Losing Skid; Canada-USA Tonight

The Grand Rapids Griffins ended their five-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win against the Iowa Wild. Michigan native Sheldon Dries scored the game-winner.
Joe Snively netted the tying goal early in the third period with Detroit prospects William Wallinder and Ondrej Becher assisting on Snively’s 18th of the season. Snively ended up with two goals and an assist in the game.
Sebastian Cossa was the winning goalie, making 26 saves to improve his record to 15-9-3. He boasts a 2.25 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

Nate Danielson and Carter Mazur, two of Detroit’s top forward prospects, assisted on Snively’s first period goal.
The Griffins are in third place in the AHL’s Central Division, one point point behind the first-place Texas Stars (Dallas Stars). The Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators) are second by percentage points.
