Detroit Red Wings
The Daily: Big Day For Larkin; Tough Day for Raymond

Detroit Red Wings linemates Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin are both playing well in the 4 Nations Face-off. But their emotions were probably at the opposite ends after Saturday’s results.
Raymond picked up his third assist in three games, but his team fell 4-3 in overtime to archrival Finland. The Swedes-Finns rivalry is similar to USA vs. Canada.
Meanwhile, Dylan Larkin scored the game-winning goal and set-up the insurance goal with a rink-wide pass in a 3-1 win against Canada. That puts USA in the championship game. The team’s opponent is unsettled.
The Finland-Sweden and USA-Canada were both entertaining games. The USA-Canada tilt may be remembered as a classic. The game started with three fights before everyone was settled into their seats. Canadian coach Jon Cooper described the situation as “mayhem.”
Canada and USA are archrivals, but the tension has risen since Canadian fans started to boo the U.S. anthem for political reasons.
This was a big win for the Americans. Larkin called the game “one of the best experiences of my life.”
The win could have been costly because of an injury suffered by U.S. forward Matthew Tkachuk. He seems OK after sitting out the last half of the third period against Canada.
Red Wings In Case You Missed It
It doesn’t appear that Henrik Zetterberg is looking to join the former Detroit players looking to join the franchise’s management team. He likes his life without hockey.
Mikko Rantanen gets revenge on Nicklas Lidstrom. Bob Duff has the story.
Jonathan Berggren has found his way with the Red Wings.
Red Wings Extra
The Grand Rapids Griffins are still sputtering, sitting with five losses in their last six games. The Griffins, with Ville Husso (34 saves) in net, lost 3-2 to the Iowa Wild on Saturday. The bright spot for Grand Rapids was Carter Mazur scoring both of the team’s goals. This was Mazur’s first multiple-point game since returning from a lengthy stay on the injured list. Mazur has three goals and one assist for four points in his past four games.
