The Daily: Can Raymond Brag?; Quinn Hughes Joins USA

Lucas Raymond, Red Wings

Lucas Raymond won bragging rights over linemate Dylan Larkin, although Raymond would rather be in Larkin’s position

The Swedes beat Larkin’s Team USA 2-1 Monday. However, it will be Larkin playing in the 4 Nations Face-off championship game for USA, while Raymond is resuming workouts with the Detroit Red Wings.

USA plays Canada Thursday night (8 p.m., ESPN).

Neither Larkin (16:27 of playing time), nor Raymond (18:37), figured in the scoring Monday. Raymond had no shots on goal and was minus-1 in the game, while Larkin posted two shots and two hits. He was even.

The big news Tuesday for the Americans in preparation for the title game is defenseman Charlie McAvoy cannot play Thursday because of an injury. Former University of Michigan player and current Vancouver star Quinn Hughes will replace him. He was originally picked to play in the tournament, but couldn’t because he was injured. He’s ready now.
