The Daily: NCHC Honors Red Wings Draftee; Levshunov Impresses

Max Plante is enjoying the kind of impressive freshman season at Minnesota-Duluth that the Red Wings hoped he would have when they drafted him in the second round last June.
The son of former NHLer Derek Plante was named to the NCHC All-Rookie team Tuesday.
With 21 points in 20 games, he lead all conference at 1.05 points per game. He ranked eighth among all conference players. Plante (47th, 2024) is the first Minnesota-Duluth player to make the team since Wyatt Kaiser did it in 2020-21. He now plays for the Chicago Blackhawks
Plante’s Bulldogs will be in Tempe, Arizona this weekend to play Arizona State in a NCHC best-of-three quarterfinals.

Bob Duff writes that this season’s late-season skid by Steve Yzerman‘s slumping Detroit squad looks hauntingly similar to the skid last season’s team endured.
Former Michigan State standout defenseman Artyom Levshunov proved he belongs on the Blackhawks in a loss to Colorado.
