Detroit Red Wings
The Daily: Veleno Pointless in Chicago; Pens Have Zero Chance
Joe Veleno is such a likeable guy that many within the Detroit Red Wings organization are hoping that he earns a bigger role in Chicago than he had in Detroit.
But it hasn’t happened yet.
Veleno joined Philipp Kurashev, TJ Brodie and Louis Crevier as healthy scratches for the Blackhawks in a 6-2 loss the the Seattle Kraken.
Since the Red Wings traded Veleno to Chicago for Petr Mrazek and Craig Smith, the speedy forward has played four games without producing a point. Veleno, 25, has a total of two shots on goal.
In Chicago’s first game after the deal, Veleno played 13:07. But he played only 8:34 against Vancouver on Saturday.
Red Wings In Case You Missed It
Detroit (2-8-0) has been the NHL’s worst team over the past 10 games.
The Red Wings prevented Alex Ovechkin from scoring Tuesday, but the Capitals still scored three times in the third period to beat Detroit.
Injured defenseman Jeff Petry is getting closer to being ready to play again.
