Filip Zadina is having the level of success in the Swiss National League that he always wanted to have in the NHL.

After scoring 21 goals in just 43 games in the regular-season, Zadina generated three goals and five points for Davos in its first round four-game sweep over Zug. The Red Wings drafted Zadina because of his scoring touch, but he couldn’t unlock his ability at the NHL level.

Swiss hockey has been kind to former Red Wings all season. Austin Czarnik won the scoring title with 20 goals and 36 assists for 56 points in 49 games. He was injured at the start of the playoffs, but is playing now against for Bern in a tight-checking series against Fribourg. Bern trails 3-2 in the seven-game series.

Former Red Wings player Dominik Kubalik led the Swiss League with 27 goals. He had three goals in four games of the play-out round, but his Ambi-Piotta team did not earn a berth in the quarterfinals.

The line Jonatan Berggren-J.T. Compher-Vladimir Tarasenko was minus-three in the game. But there are also three teams ahead of Detroit before it gets to the Montreal Canadiens who own the last playoff spot. Detroit’s farm team, the Grand Rapids Griffins, fell 2-1 to Rockford.
