Red Wings vs. Blues: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

Another day, another buzzsaw for the Detroit Red Wings tonight in St. Louis, where the Blues have won nine in a row.

The Red Wings, meanwhile are coming  off a 2-1 win over the fading Boston Bruins. They started the game with a pair of fights, then took the lead and held it the rest of the way.

They’ll need the same tonight against a team that has given up just 1.44 goals per game during the winning streak while averaging four goals.

The Red Wings are still just three points out of a playoff spot with nine games to go, and its no longer March, which has been a cruel month for Detroit in recent years.

The injury situation is about the same. Elmer Soderblom and Petr Mrazek din’t make the trip to St. Louis, and their return is still undetermined.

Augustine staying at Michigan State

The Red Wings got a decision from Trey Augustine Tuesday.

Augustine announced he will return to Michigan State next year to try and get that national title.  The Spartans were upset in last week’s first round of the NCAA tournament in a major upset.

Augustine’s decision makes things a little easier for the Red Wings next season. If Sebastian Cossa isn’t quite ready, he can go back to Grand Rapids, which might have been problematic with Augustine there ,too. No way is Augustine not going to be the Griffins’ top goalie when he finally does turn pro.

But that’s a problem for the future, The. Red Wings are more worried about what to do now.
