Detroit Red Wings
Red Wings vs. Stars: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

The Red Wings are officially playing out the string this week after being eliminated from playoff contention Saturday when Montreal lost to Toronto in overtime.
They play in their home finale tonight against a slumping Dallas Stars team that has lost five in a row. Saturday might have been a low point, giving up four power-play goals in a loss to Utah.
For a few Wings, this will be their last game on home ice, at least in Detroit. Alex Lyon, for one, Jeff Petry for another.
Todd McLellan was blunt when talking about the season on Sunday. He and general manager Steve Yzerman haev a full agenda for the offseason. The work on next year’s team is underway.
Elmer Soderholm’s season is done. McLellan said Sunday the forward has an injury that will sideline him. and with the playoffs no longer a possibility, he’s going home to rest and be ready for next season.
It’s been a roller-coaster season for the Wings who finish the season at New Jersey on Wednesday and at Toronto on Thursday. Both teams are in the playoffs and should be tuning up for the postseason.
The Red Wings, who have missed the playoffs for nine seasons now, have a different, but no less important, agenda.
We all know how loyal Detroit fans are when their teams are excelling. With the Tigers and Pistons back on the upswing, the tolerance fans will have for mediocrity will be lower next year.
