This Could be Key Player in Kane Remaining With Red Wings
Trick Kane could keep his dad in Hockeytown

Soon, the negotiations to keep left-winger Patrick Kane with the Detroit Red Wings will begin in earnest.
As is his habit, Kane wasn’t committing to any future path for his NHL career as the Red Wings were holding locker clean out day on Saturday.
“I mean, I think definitely take some time to think,” impending UFA Kane told reporters, “but overall I’ve really enjoyed my time here and I think it’s been a great place for me to continue my career and play.”
Many people will have say regarding the next move in Kane’s NHL career. Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman seems certain to want the veteran star back in the fold. Certainly, Pat Brisson, Kane’s agent, will be exploring all of the options available to his client.

Ultimately, though, one person may be holding the most cards in this deal. And that would be Kane’s four-year-old son Trick.
“Honestly, last year when we were going through the situation, I said, ‘Where do you think your dad should play?'” Kane recollected. “And he said, ‘Detroit.'”
Kanes Are Fond Of Red Wings
Trick, short for Patrick Kane III, has evolved into a star in his own right since his dad first donned the winged wheel. He can always be seen pre-game, high-fiving the players outside the Detroit locker room as they exit the ice following warmups. He was even mic’d up for a video on the Red Wings web page.
“He likes it, he enjoys it,” Kane said of his son’s fondness for Detroit. “That’s an important part of it, right?
“I think just the ability for him to come down and give the players knocks after warm ups, the way they take care of the kids here – they’re allowed to come in the locker room whenever.
“The friendships he’s made with other kids is important as well. So, yeah, all that stuff matters.”
Trick has formed a strong bond with Archie DeBrincat, son of Kane’s teammate and close friend Alex DeBrincat.
“Imagine if I took him away from Archie,” Kane said. “Right? He’d be crushed.”
“So, yeah, that’s definitely an important factor.”
