While the Detroit Red Wings are in the NHL draft lottery, fans should not get their hopes up for moving up from the No. 12 pick.



Under NHL rules only the teams with the 11 worst records have a chance to win the lottery for the No. 1 pick. The Red Wings are eligible to win the lottery for No. 2 pick, but, according to tankathon.com, they only own 5.1% chance to earning that No. 2 pick.

Based on lottery odds, Detroit has an 85.7% chance of keeping the 12th pick and an 8.9% chance of picking 13th.

With that in mind, we offer a too-early-list of five players the Red Wings might consider with the 12th pick:
