The Daily: Bertuzzi Lands Coaching Gig; Holland Linked to NYI

Todd Bertuzzi, the uncle of Tyler Bertuzzi, is latest of former Detroit Red Wings joining the coaching fraternity. He was named coach of the Junior B Cambridge RedHawks team. The RedHawks play in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
A Junior B job can be a stepping stone to an Ontario Hockey League job. Bertuzzi grew up in Sudbury, Ontario, and played for Guelph in the OHL.
Bertuzzi, 50, played his last five NHL seasons in Detroit (2009-14). In his best season with Detroit, he netted 18 goals en route to 44 points.
The RedHawks finished sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 27-18-4-1 record this season, but lost to the Fort Erie Meteors in six games in the opening round of the postseason.

Detroit goalie prospect Rudy Guimond (169th, 2023) raised his Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League winning streak to 22 games by helping the Moncton Wildcats take down Rouyn-Noranda 2-1. Guimond, heading to Yale in the fall, made 28 saves and was named one of the game’s three stars. After jumping from the United States Hockey League to Moncton, Guimond had a 16-0 record in the regular-season. He’s now 6-0 in the postseason sharing goalie duties with Mathis Rousseau. Moncton owns a 2-0 lead over Rouyn-Noranda in the QMJHL Semifinals.
