The Daily: Will Red Wings Take Soo Center?; Devils Sought Sullivan

TSN highly respected draft guru Bob McKenzie’s latest reconfiguring of his 2025 draft list has intriguing center/wing Brady Martin (Soo Greyhounds) ranked at the No. 12 position. According to Tankathon.com, the Red Wings have an 85.7% chance of picking 12th going into next month’s draft lottery.

Martin totaled 33 goals and 72 points in 59 Ontario Hockey League games this season. He’s 6-o, 180 pounds. McKenzie had 6-foot-6 Czechia defenseman Radim Mrtka (Seattle, WHL) and Carter Bear (Everett, WHL) ranked 11th and 13th, respectively.

In a few weeks, Detroit Hockey Now will do a round-up of what mock drafts are projecting about the Red Wings.

GM Steve Yzerman does have concern about the Red Wings being infected by losing culture. Years without a postseason can take a toll.

The Grand Rapids Griffins, with four Detroit first rounders on the roster, will play Game 2 of their AHL playoff series on Monday.

Bob Duff writes that the Dylan Larkin-Steve Yzerman tiff is being overblown. Yzerman and Larkin talked after Larkin said players were disappointed that Yzerman didn’t do more at the NHL trade deadline.

Former Detroit player Jake Walman was worth the first-round pick the Edmonton Oilers paid to acquire him from the San Jose Sharks. In the Oilers’ first-round triumph over Los Angeles, Walman averaged 20.44 minutes per game and was plus-eight. He chipped in one assist.  Walman generated nine shots on goal.
