Red Wings Need Better Goaltending as Much as Increased Scoring (DHN+)

As Detroit Red Wings fans debate which free agent the team needs to sign to solve their scoring issues, no one is talking about what may be the team’s most critical issue going into the offseason.



Detroit’s goaltending isn’t good enough, and there is no clear path to fixing the problem.

The Red Wings’ .896 save percentage tied them with three other teams for 20th in the NHL in that statistic. The Carolina Hurricanes (.893) are the only NHL with a weaker save percentage that made the playoffs last season.
