The Daily: Red Wings Prospect Fuels Walleye; MBN Booted

Red Wings goaltending prospect Carter Gylander, 23, made 24 stops to help the Toledo Walleye down the Kansas City Mavericks 4-3 on the road and claim a 2-0 lead in the ECHL Western Conference Finals.
With the two wins, the Walleye have taken away the Mavericks’ home ice advantage. The next three games will be in Toledo, starting Tuesday night.
The 6-foot-5 Gylander, 23, is now 5-1 in the postseason with a 2.84 goals-against average. The Walleye are rotating Gylander with Jan Bednar, another Detroit draft pick who is under contract to Grand Rapids Griffins.
Detroit’s goaltending prospect stable includes Sebastian Cossa, Trey Augustine, Gylander and Rudy Guimond, plus Bednar certainly still on their radar.
The @ToledoWalleye win 4-3. Toledo has seized a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series by winning the first two games on the road. The Walleye also grabbed the home-ice advantage as the series now shifts to Toledo for three games next week. Colby Ambrosio with winner. Gylander 24 saves

Red Wings Extra
Detroit goaltending prospect Rudy Guimond’s Moncton Wildcats are now 0-2 trying to clinch the QMJHL Championship series triumph against the Rimouski Oceanic. Rimouski downed Moncton 3-1 Saturday in Moncton to force a Game 6 in the best-of-seven series. Moncton won the first three games of this series. The Wildcats are rotating their goalies and Mathis Rousseau was in net for the Game 5 loss. Presumably, Guimond will be Moncton’s starter for Game 6 in Rimouski on Monday. He is 8-1 in the playoffs with a 2.25 GAA and .916 save percentage.
