The first odds are out for the Mitch Marner Sweepstakes and the Detroit Red Wings are a 10/1 (+1000) shot to sign the pending unrestricted free agent.

That ties them (with the New York Rangers) for sixth, behind the favorite Chicago Blackhawks (+300). The Philadelphia Flyers (+400), Pittsburgh Penguins (+500), Utah Mammoth (+600) and Carolina Hurricanes (+800) round out the top five at sportsbetting.ag.

It’s interesting to see Detroit high on the list because we would guess that Marner will want to end up on a contender. The Red Wings, however, do have enough salary cap space to make a competitive offer.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman has reported that Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs are far apart on working out a new deal. It doesn’t sound as if there is a much hope the two sides could come together in the 11th hour.

The only other player moving bet you can place at sportsbetting.ag is a presumptive bet of where Sidney Crosby would end up if the Pittsburgh Penguins trade him. There’s no indication that Crosby wants to go anywhere.

However, if he does, the Red Wings have the fourth-best odds (+750) of making a trade with the Penguins. The Montreal Canadiens are the favorite at (+300), followed by the Colorado Avalanche (+400) and Vegas Golden Knights (+550)

The respect the Swedish National Team has for Lucas Raymond was evident in team’s 5-3 loss to Canada. Raymond, the team’s alternate captain, led all Swedish players with 22:36 minutes of ice time. He posted one assist. The Swedes used seven defensemen in that game. Simon Edvinsson played 14:07, while Detroit teammate Erik Gustafsson was at 10:10. Both players had an even plus-minus.
