The Daily: Ex-Red Wings Player Going Abroad; Gus Defends Goalie

Spunky Tomas Tatar, who launched his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings 15 years ago, is leaving North America to play for Zug in the Swiss National League for the next two seasons.
Tatar, 34, is a seven-time 20-plus NHL goal scorer, including four times with the Red Wings. He played with Detroit from 2010-18. He averaged 22 goals per season for a five-year period (2013-18) with Detroit.
Before being promoted to Detroit, Tatar helped the Grand Rapids Griffins win an AHL championship in 2013. The 5-foot-9 forward netted 16 goals and produced 21 points in 24 games.
I’m actually disappointed with Tomas Tatar’s departure to the Swiss League. I thought he was easily the hardest-working player in the #NJDevils bottom six, and the only bottom-six player who actually drove play on a consistent basis.

The Zug team plans to use Tatar at center, instead of wing where he has played most of his NHL career. He has played for Detroit, Vegas, Montreal and New Jersey. Last season, Tatar scored seven goals and contributed 17 points.
