Detroit Hockey Now Offers Special Sale of Yearly Subscription for $12

When I launched my journalism career as a newspaper reporter in the 1970s, our stories were pounded out on a typewriter. If we wanted to insert a paragraph into the story after we were finished, then we typed it on a fresh sheet of paper, pulled out glue and scissors, and literally cut and pasted the new paragraph into our stories.

None of our pages were the same length when we turned our story into an editor.

It was different time.

Circulation numbers meant we knew how many people bought our newspapers every day, but the number of readers of each story was always a mystery.

That all changed when the internet arrived. Today, we know exactly how many reads each story receives. That’s all useful information for writers because we know now what you want to read and what you don’t want to read. For example, we write frequently about Red Wings prospects at Detroit Hockey Now, because those stories consistently are well-read. We don’t write many personality features because we have found that our readers don’t have interest in reading those pieces.
