The Daily: More Walman Antics, Seger Re-Signs, NHL Rumors

In the midst of the Florida Panthers hammering the Edmonton Oilers 6-1 in Game 3, former Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman found the spotlight yet again.
Cameras caught the Edmonton defenseman squirting his water bottle into the Florida bench after Florida’s A.J. Greer stole Walman’s glove.
Isn’t it supposed to be Florida’s Brad Marchand that gets all of the camera time? Not this series.

Earlier in the series, Walman was recorded laughing in the face of Florida forward Tomas Nosek for taking a costly penalty in overtime.
Game 3 was a physical game and Walman was involved in that as well. The Panthers are usually initiating the physical play, but they didn’t like Walman’s actions here.

The Grand Rapids Griffins re-signed Swedish center Gabriel Seger (10-7-17, plus-five) to a one-year deal. He’s a role player with plenty of value. Before signing with the Griffins last summer, Seger played college hockey at Union and then Cornell.

It was fun watching the Oilers get unhinged last night. Just like the announcers pointed out, they were still in it when they were going gonzo with the cheap stuff. If they lose this series Knoblauch will likely get canned. You can’t have that kind of melt down in a still winnable SCF game. Excusable maybe in the last 5 minutes of the game, but not late in the 2nd and the start of the third. That they came out that way in the third was ridiculous.
You can’t can a guy who takes a team to the finals in his first two years with the team. They have ZERO reliable goalies. This offseason the Wings should dangle Mrazek, Talbot, or even Cossa in their face and get something useful. They’re desperate.
