The Joe Veleno time spent unemployed will not be lengthy. Reports say that the Montreal Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers reached out to him after he was bought out by the Seattle Kraken.

It’s not surprising NHL teams are interested in Veleno. He can skate. Plus, he averaged 130 hits person season over his four seasons in Detroit.  He brings value to a team. His problem he’s a first round pick. His talent is evident. More is expected from him, particularly on offense.

It feels as if he should be a 20-goal scorer, or at least put up 15. Plus. His career high is 12 goals, and last season Veleno showed eight goals in his split time between Detroit and Chicago.

Perhaps a fresh start, from training camp, is what Veleno needs to get his career pointed in the right direction. Now about to join his fourth team, Veleno may be seen as a role player and not a first-round pick who should be doing more.
