Avery wants to resume life with his ex
Former Detroit Red Wings center Sean Avery spent a lot of time during his NHL career in the penalty box. He was put into the legal form of the sin bin by his former wife, but now they are seeking early release from his penance.
You see, Avery and his ex, model Hilary Rhoda, have resumed life as a couple. There’s just one tiny sticking point.

In July 2022, Rhoda filed for divorce from Avery, citing irreconcilable differences. At the same time, Rhoda filed for and was granted a restraining order against the former Red Wings player. She accused Avery of aggressive behavior toward her and their son.
The restraining order is in effect until September 11 of this year, but here’s another interesting little twist in the story.
Avery and Rhoda are back together. According to court documents filed this week by Avery, they’ve been cohabitating for over a year.
That would seem to be a violation of the restraining order, and it is. That being the case, Avery filed official court documents seeking to have the restraining order lifted.

Avery and Rhoda, a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, were married in 2015. They have a five-year-old son named Noah.
Since leaving the NHL, Avery is trying his hand at acting. He’s had bit parts in such films as Oppenheimer and Happy Gilmore 2.
Avery Launched NHL Career With Red Wings
Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Red Wings, Avery made his NHL debut with Detroit during the 2001-02 season.
Avery played 608 games in the regular season and playoffs during his 10-year NHL career. He accumulated 1,602 penalty minutes.
Traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2003, Avery would lead the NHL in penalty minutes with LA in 2003-04 and 2005-06. In doing so, he became the first center to top the league in PIM since another former Red Wings player, Forbes Kennedy of the Toronto Maple Leafs, did so in 1968-69.
