Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin refuted reports that Kaprizov rejected a contract offer that would have made him the league’s highest paid player at $16 million per season.

Guerin made the denial as a guest on the 10,000 Takes Podcast.

“Look, I don’t know where this stuff comes from,” Guerin said about the report. “I know two things: that info didn’t come from us, and it didn’t come from Kirill’s agent. I don’t know where it came from.”

Hockey Insider Frank Seravalli said Kaprizov turned down an offer of eight years for $128 million. If the offer is true, a deal of that magnitude would have made the league’s highest-paid player in terms of average salary and value of the deal

Red Wings Extra

Texas native Cross Hanas is listed on the Dallas Stars training camp roster. We can presume he will be on a PTO, although nothing official has come from the Stars.  The Red Wings didn’t make a qualifying offer to him when his contract expired. Left-wing Hanas played three seasons for the Grand Rapids Griffins and averaged 16 or 17 points all three seasons.
