The Daily: Will Oilers Call Hart?; Fleury To Play Preseason Game

The NHL is suspending the five players recently acquitted of sexual assault until Dec. 1 but is allowing NHL teams to sign them after Oct. 15.

There’s been no indication that the Red Wings are interested in any of member of the group, which includes Alex Formenton, Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, and Callan Foote. But there was considerable discussion on social media Thursday about whether the Edmonton Oilers would pursue Carter Hart, 

The Oilers are searching for improved goaltending. Hart, 27, is an Alberta native who was once considered a premium prospect. However, he hasn’t played since 2023-24

Dube, Foote, Hart and McLeod were playing in the NHL until charges were announced during the 2023-24 season and are currently unrestricted free agents. Formenton hasn’t been the NHL since 2022 and rejoined Swiss club HC Ambri-Piotta earlier in September.
