The Daily: How Real is Crosby Chatter?: Buchelnikov Not on Scoresheet

While it’s been entertaining to read the ample discussion, debate and speculation about Sidney Crosby being traded, the reality is there’s no serious discussion about it actually happening.

He’s not going to the Montreal Canadiens, or Ottawa Senators, or anywhere.

At least for now.

The New York Times offers an article explaining why trading Crosby makes sense. Plus, agent Pat Brisson’s interview with Pierre LeBrun makes it clear that Crosby still wants to compete for the Stanley Cup. He can’t do that with a rebuilding Penguins team.

Will the Penguins change course to keep their beloved captain?

It’s not insignificant that Crosby grew up rooting for the Habs. Nor is it insignificant that Montreal’s tradition fits well with Crosby’s career.

Pittsburgh’s fan base wouldn’t want to say goodbye to Crosby, but its pain would be eased by a good return on moving him (By the way, the Montreal fan base doesn’t want to give up Ivan Demidov to get Crosby.) And not Lane Hutson, either.

This is a story that is just beginning.
