The New Jersey Devils haven’t made final roster decisions, but Luke Glendening has seemingly played well enough in preseason to earn a place on their team.

The former Red Wings player Glendening (2013-21) offers strong defensive play from the center position, and he’s one of the league’s better face-off artists. He can contribute offensively, although he only chipped in seven points in 77 games for Tampa Bay last season.

A Michigan native, Glendening turned 36 in April. He’s in New Jersey’s camp on a Professional Tryout Agreement (PTO).

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

Dimitri Buchelnikov put up three goals and two assists in CSKA’s 7-2 win to end his early season struggles in the KHL. Former Red Wings player had four assists.

Long-time Detroit broadcaster Ray Lane, a former host on Red Wings games, has died at 95.

Detroit defense prospect Anton Johansson suffered an injury over the weekend. The extent of that injury has not been revealed.

While Buchelnikov’s five-point night was an impressive way to emerge from his early season slump, it should be noted that it came against Lada, the worst team in the KHL’s Western Division. Lada is 1-7-1… Liam Kilfoil (Halifax Mooseheads), who was a Detroit undrafted invite for its prospect series against Dallas, committed to play college hockey at Northeastern. Kilfoil scored a memorable goal against Dallas.
