Red Wings Prospect Genborg Continues to Impress

The Detroit Red Wings might have themselves a real find in 2025 second-round draft pick Eddie Genborg. The Timra winger continues to light red lamps and earn lofty praise in the Swedish League.

Genborg’s latest impressive performance was delivered in a 2-1 away win at Malmo. The 18-year-old winger selected 40th overall by Detroit converted a two-on-one to tie the score. He then drew the only assist on Jonathan Dahlen’s game-winner.

His combination of productivity and tenacity is earning Genborg new fans every day.

“He is a fantastic talent,” Dahlen told Swedish website Sundsvall Tidning. “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone his age be so good in all aspects of the game.

“He is a great player and person who works hard every day.”

With four goals in 11 games, Genborg is second in goal scoring in the SHL among teenage players. Only Chicago Blackhawks 2025 first-round pick Anton Frondell (six) rates ahead of Genborg.

Red Wings vice-president of hockey operations Nicklas Lidstrom was recently on hand to watch Genborg in action.

“I talked to him briefly after the game,” Genborg said. “It’s just fun that he’s there watching.”

Red Wings Pick Taking Kudos In Stride.

Genborg is doing his best to keep a level head as the praise for his game only continues to accelerate.

“I try not to think about it too much,” Genborg said. “You can’t think about it too much. It just puts barriers in your head.”

Not that a fellow isn’t going to feel a bit of a sense of pride when the hockey world is lining up to offer him positive vibes.

“It’s nice to hear,” Genborg said. “You’ve put in a lot of hard work. It’s nice that I got it right.”
