If the Detroit Red Wings suffer a goaltending injury, who would GM Steve Yzerman call up from the Grand Rapids Griffins?  That question looks more interesting now that the Griffins have started the season 4-0 with two goalies posting quality numbers

Czechia native Michal Postava, 23, posted 35 saves to help the Griffins take down the Manitoba Moose 4-2 to complete a two-game home sweep over the Moose. Prospect Postava, signed by the Red Wings in offseason, is now 2-0 on the season with 2.01 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. Sebastian Cossa, 22, has also started well with a 2-0 mark to go along with a 2.50 GAA and .914 save percentage.

This is the first time the Griffins have started 4-0 since 2004-05.  This also marked the 350th win in Dan Watson’s professional coaching career.

Latvian Edouards Tralmaks, signed in the summer after an impressive season in the Czech league, scored twice for Grand Rapids.  Ondrej Becher, William Wallinder, Jakub Rychlovsky and Carter Mazur all had assists in the game.  Mazur has six points in the four games.

Former University of Michigan player Jacub Truscott made his professional debut with the Griffins.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

Patrick Kane is out today with an upper body injury. The Red Wings don’t yet have a timeline for his return.

The Detroit power play has missed Lucas Raymond. He might be back today.

Confidence continues to grow for the Red Wings Rookie crop.

Red Wings Extra

Broadcaster Bob Kaser knows more about the Griffins than anyone outside of the coaching staff. His information is always reliable.
