The Detroit Red Wings (8-3) play the third game of a five-game road trip tonight with a contest against the Anaheim Ducks (5-3-1). Detroit is 2-0 on the trip.

When: 10 p.m., ET

Odds: Detroit (+1.5,-275), Anaheim Ducks (-1.5, +200), ESPNBet

Hot: Defenseman Axel Sandin Pellikka continues to settle in with two assists and six shots on goal in Detroit’s three-game winning streak.

Not: Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin didn’t register a point against the Kings, and were on the ice for two goals-against. Larkin is off to one of the best individual starts in Red Wings player history, but he had no shots on goal against Los Angeles.

Spotlight: After going eight games without a goal, Alex DeBrincat has netted a goal in each of the last three games.

Absence: Patrick Kane has missed the last six games with an undisclosed upper body injury.

Story: John Gibson will play against Anaheim in his first trip there since being traded to Detroit. He played 12 seasons in Anaheim… The Red Wings (8-3) are tied for the NHL’s 2nd-best record and are coming off a 4-3 shootout road win against Los Angeles…Detroit was 4-for-4 on the penalty kill against Los Angeles. The Red Wings are tied for seventh on the PKA (87.7%). They were 32nd last season at 70,1%. Injury: Patrick Kane is close to returning, but it won’t be tonight.

Hope McLellan reminds the boys that J.Trouba will be on the ice. Keep their heads up.

I’d like to see McLellan move JVR to the first line tonight. Last night showed a bit of a weakness for the Wings top line playing against the Kings big forwards. At least on the road, it’d be good to get Raymond away from the toughest matchups until he gets going and back to 100%. That, and I’m just really intrigued with what JVR could do with Larkin and Finnie.
