Detroit Red Wings
The Daily: Red Wings Face Major Test in Vegas; Devils Need Trade?
It doesn’t seem right that an NHL team celebrating its Centennial season is measuring itself against a franchise that has only been in existence since 2017.
But Bob Duff’s story today details that the Red Wings (9-4) view tonight’s road game against the Vegas Golden Knights (6-2-3) as their biggest test on their five-game road trip. The Red Wings are 3-1 on this Western swing, and a win against Vegas would give Detroit players considerable confidence as they move into the heart of their November schedule.
The Red Wings’ respect for the Golden Knights is not misplaced. Detroit has missed the playoffs for nine consecutive seasons. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights have played 106 playoff games over the past seven seasons. They’ve won 62 of those games.
“Really good hockey team,” Detroit’s JT Compher said. “A lot of depth, a lot of speed.”
The good news for Detroit: the Golden Knights are not executing well lately. They are 1-2-1 in their last four games. Vegas hasn’t played since Friday when it lost 4-2 at home to Colorado.
