Detroit Red Wings fans will have a unique opportunity to relive their Motown hockey memories through the words of the players who created those memories.

Saturday’s 100 Years of Hockeytown show at the Fox Theater (7 p.m.), featuring more than 50 former players telling stories, is a highlight of the four-day Hockeytown Centenniel Fan Fast that continues today with Day 2.   This is a first-of-its-kind event to discuss the impressive legacy of one of the NHL’s Original Six franchises.

With Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond hosting, you know the storytelling will be rich, and probably humorous.  Steve Yzerman will be there, along with Sergei Fedorov, Nicklas Lidstrom. The list is long and impressive.

A live band will play during the event, creating a soundtrack that creates the spirit of each decade of Red Wings’ hockey. Whether you grew up watching Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, Yzerman, Lidstrom or Dylan Larkin this night is for you.

There is a VIP plan as well, which offers special access. For information about the show, the VIP plan, or to purchase a ticket, click here:

The Fan Fest, at the Motor City Casino Hotel, is designed as a family event, with youngsters able to have interactive experiences. There will be historic exhibits, opportunities for photos and autographs from many Red Wings legends.

Maybe Patrick Kane will play this weekend. There is optimism, but not certainty.

Tyler Bertuzzi is coming to town Sunday, and he’s playing well for the Chicago Blackhawks.
