The Daily: Bear Back on Prowl in WHL; Gylander in GR Again

When it comes to long-term sports injuries, players actually have two return dates. There’s the date they resume playing and then there’s the second date when they begin playing consistently the way they did before they were hurt.

Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Bear (13th, 2025) is now past the second date. With six goals and nine points in his past three games, Bear is showing the production that prompted the Red Wings to draft him.  As expected, it has taken him time to find his game after suffering an Achilles injury last season.

The Everett Silvertips right wing had one multiple-point game in his first eight outings, and now shows five multi-point games in his last 10.  That inclines three three-point games and one four-point effort (three goals, one assist) Wednesday in an 8-3 win against the Regina Pats.

Bear now has 10 goals and 22 points in 18 games. That’s a pace for a 37 goals in a 68-game WHL season. Bear scored 40 goals in 56 games last season before injuring his Achilles.
