The Daily: Atlantic Demands Red Wings Keep Winning; Postava Posts Shutout
Detroit Red Wings coach Todd McLellan has recently talked about how it feels like no team loses a game in the Eastern Conference or Atlantic Division.
That’s not far from the truth.
The Boston Bruins have won six in a row. The Tampa Bay Lightning are 9-0-1 in their last 10. The Buffalo Sabres are 15-2-1 since Dec. 9. Last night, the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens all won, along with the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Red Wings haven’t gone two consecutive games without earning a point since late November. That’s why they have stayed near the top.
“Everybody seems to win all the time,” McLellan said. “So we have to have the bounce back day after day.”
Bob Duff pointed out that the Red Wings are doing that by winning the games they should win, like Friday when the Sharks were playing the second day in back-to-back road games. The Sharks were a tired team. Likewise, the Red Wings tonight face an Ottawa team that lost 6-5 to Montreal last night. Tonight’s game is a game the fresher Red Wings should win.
