The Daily: How Would You Feel if Red Wings Traded Augustine?; GR In Losing Skid

Published

Trey Augustine, Red Wings prospect

It’s clear Detroit Red Wings fans are more than intrigued by goalie prospect Trey Augustine, a junior at Michigan State University. Some see him as more intriguing than Grand Rapids No. 1 Sebastian Cossa. It’s also clear that the fan base wants GM Steve Yzerman to make a bold move to acquire an impact player before the NHL trade deadline.

What if Yzerman needed to trade Augustine to get that objective accomplished. Now how do you feel about it?

There have been no reports that Augustine’s name has been in play. The Detroit plan is to sign him after MSU’s season is over and give him pro games soon after.

But Augustine is one of Detroit’s top prospects, and we hear teams are seeking top prospects in return for desirable veterans, such as proven top four defensemen and centers like Ryan O’Reilly, Nazem Kadri and Vince Trocheck.

Augustine’s name will come up.

After Augustine’s 33 saves in a 6-3 win against No. 5 Penn State Friday, the South Lyon resident is 18-5-0 with a 1.79 GAA and .937 save percentage.

Igor Larionov coaching season is not going well in the KHL.

Slow starts continue to plague coach Todd McLellan’s Detroit squad.

Mike Modano hopes Patrick Kane makes the U.S.-Born NHL scoring mark difficult to break.

He will soon be headed to the Olympics to play for Latvia. . . Massachusetts six-foot-four defenseman Larry Keenan (117th, 2023) scored an exciting goal in a 3-2 overtime win against Northeastern.
