Seider Olympic Update: Germany Out After Loss to Slovakia

Germany’s Olympics ended Wednesday in the quarterfinals when Slovakia scored three consecutive goals in the second period en route to a 6-2 victory. Slovakia advanced to the semifinals and will play either the U.S. or the Switzerland-Finland winner on Friday.

Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider was on the ice for 27:48.

PRODUCTION

Seider had two shots on net and was second on the team in time on ice.

GAME NOTES

Slovakia never trailed in the game, but it was 1-0 after one period. A pair of goals 33 seconds apart early in the second period sent Slovakia on its way. Former Red Wing Tomas Tatar scored an empty-netter in the final minutes.

ANALYSIS

Germany finished 2-3 in the tournament. Seider was a mainstay on the blue line, leading the team’s defense in time on ice.
