Since he took over as GM of the Detroit Red Wings, Steve Yzerman has invested heavily into sports science in order to try and gain an edge.

Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman is putting his faith in the science. Stevie Y is trusting in sports science to create another avenue toward giving his club an edge as he seeks to concoct a formula to drive the Red Wings back to the top of the NHL.

Since Yzerman assumed GM duties of the club in 2019, he’s invested heavily into the sports science side of the industry, seeing it as another avenue to help carve out a path to success.

“I think we’ve been really successful in that area,” Red Wings assistant GM Shawn Horcoff said. “It is sort of new and it’s still a work in progress but I think we’ve gone a good job and I think the right people are in place.”
