Injury Forces Larkin Out of WC; Red Wings Prospect Added to Roster

Dylan Larkin, expected to be a key contributor for Team USA at the upcoming World Championships, was forced to leave the team because of an injury. No details about the injury have been released.

The World Championship tournament is scheduled for May 10-26, in Ostrava and Prague, Czechia.

The Larkin injury was announced with the announcement of nine more additions to the team. One of the new players includes goalie Trey Augustine who is a Detroit Red Wings goalie prospect. Augustine will be a sophomore at Michigan State next fall.

Defenseman Jeff Petry is also one of the names. His addition was previously reported. Others on the list:

Mikey Eyssimont (Littleton, Colo./Tampa Bay Lightning), Kevin Hayes (Dorchester, Mass./St. Louis Blues), Ryan Leonard (Amherst, Mass./Boston College), Brock Nelson (Warroad, Minn./New York Islanders) and Will Smith (Lexington, Mass./Boston College) are the forwards who have been added, while blueliners Matthew Kessel (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./St. Louis Blues), Michael Kesselring (New Hampton, N.H./Arizona Coyotes) and Petry (Ann Arbor, Mich./Detroit Red Wings), along with Augustine (South Lyon, Mich./Michigan State University).

Ridiculous for Larkin to even consider that class B tournament. Of he gets hurt the Wing season is over before it starts. He can take his wife somewhere nicer than Czechnia.

Another good reason to try to get Stamkos. The Wings core isn’t deep enough yet.
