The Daily: Bruins Want First Rounder for Ullmark; Jeannot Talk

Linus Ullmark, boston bruins

Boston Hockey Now Jimmy Murphy said the Bruins expect a first round pick as a minimum as a return for goalie Linus Ullmark. But they  can’t be sure that will happen.

“The goalie market is the trickiest of all,” an NHL executive told Murphy. “So many different things at that exact time can dictate the value of the goalie on the market, and many times, it’s in the eyes of the beholder.”

The Bruins have holes in their lineup, including at No. 2 center, and there is a possibility that they could work out a player-for-player deal. Ullmark is expendable because they have Jeremy Swayman ahead of him. He is getting a new contract this summer.

The good news for the Bruins is that a handful of teams are looking for a goalie, including the New Jersey Devils, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators.  Ullmark has a $5 million cap hit on a contract expiring after this upcoming season

It’s known that Ullmark used his no-trade clause to block deal during the season, and that could happen again this summer.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

While the Bruins’ first arena is coming down, the Red Wings’ first home is still standing in Windsor.

Even with players moving to the Red Wings, the Grand Rapids Griffins should still be competitive in 2024-25.

Detroit prospect Dmitri Buchelnikov will play for his third KHL team this upcoming season.

Red Wings Offseason

Coach Derek Lalonde’s Detroit squad ranked ninth in scoring last season. But Patrick Kane (20 goals), Daniel Sprong (18), David Perron (17) and Shayne Gostisbehere (10) produced 23.6% of the team’s goals. All four are unrestricted free agents.  Jonatan Berggren can replace some of those goals, but others will have to step up.
