The Daily: Stars Slow-Playing Robertson Hand; NHL Rumors; Kurashev Update

It’s fair to say there is considerable confusion about what the Dallas Stars are trying to accomplish by listening to offers on Jason Robertson. Do they really want to sign him? Can they find the cap space to do that. Would they prefer to move him?

It’s hard to see how the Dallas Stars are going come out ahead by trading a player who has put up 151 goals and 348 points over the last four seasons.

“I don’t think it’s a smart move for (the Stars) to be moving Jason Robertson said,” TSN Analyst Craig Button said.

Confused or not, many NHL teams, including the Red Wings, are happy to bid for his service. Detroit Hockey Now believes it would take the three or four assets to acquire Robertson. We feel it a Red Wings package be something like Nate Danielson, William Wallinder and their 2025 first round pick.  Maybe they would need to throw in another draft pick.

But Bleecher Report put together a list of trade packages from five different NHL teams that might interest the Stars. Their Red Wings’ package included Axel Sandin Pellikka who is Detroit’s No. 1 prospect, plus Jonatan Berggren and the No. 1 pick.

Meanwhile, reports say the Stars want to find out how much money Robertson, 25, will be looking for moving forward.  He has one year remaining on a contract paying him $7.75 million. After next season, he will be a restricted free agent. Then, he becomes a UFA.

The Stars clearly need to know what Robertson is thinking about for the future. That may be a big part of what is going on.

The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the Stars may slow-play their hand in the Jason Robertson. If they cannot get something worked out, they could still move him later in the summer.

sonRed Wings fans know Dallas GM Jim Nill well. He’s a smart manager, and doesn’t do anything  unless his plan his well-thought out.

Red Wings In Case You Missed it

Sergei Fedorov believes Sergei Bobrovsky should have won the Conn Smythe Trophy this season.

Keep an eye on defenseman Radim Mrtka should he start to fall in the draft. If there is at No. 13, the Red Wings probably would jump at the chance to add another giant defenseman.

One fact that needs to be considered this summer is that Simon Edvinsson will be a restricted free agent next summer. The good news for Detroit is that he is the only critical player who will be looking for a new deal.
