Red Wings Give Sam Gagner a New One-Year Deal

The Detroit Red Wings signed center Sam Gagner to a one-year contract extension.

Right-hand shot. High character player. Good with younger players. Could score 10+ goals given the right opportunity.

The Detroit Red Wings signed Sam Gagner to a one-year extension for $850,00 because he checked plenty of boxes that general manager Steve Yzerman is looking for in the free agent marketplace.

“I think it’s a great place to live for my family,” Gagner said. “It’s a great market to be a part of. It’s something I’ve enjoyed. I didn’t even really look – I never wanted to look elsewhere. I’m excited to be a Red Wing again. I’m hopeful it’s going to be a great year.”

Gagner posted seven goals and 15 points in a limited role last season. Currently, he is the only the right-shot forward on the team.
