Red Wings Daily: Larkin Excited for Season After New Free Agent Signings
Detroit Red Wings fans weren’t the only ones excited about the team’s many moves during free agency.
Add Captain Dylan Larkin to the list, too.
Dylan Larkin said he watched free agency unfold as we all did.
"There's a lot of excitement about players coming to Detroit right now because of the good young core we have right now. It's nice to finally see that and we're all excited for the season to start." #LGRW pic.twitter.com/TxX7hcTene

Speaking with WXYZ’s Jeanna Trotman, Larkin talked some golf since he was at the Area 313 Celebrity Challenge. When asked about the Red Wings moves, the Red Wings captain answered confidently about it was “nice to finally see” free agents wanting to play in Detroit around the younger core that includes him.
The signings also made for another storyline that will likely develop in little over a month.
Edvinsson Will Push for a Spot on Opening Night
While free agents may have flocked to Detroit, it certainly makes it a lot tougher for the prospects knocking on the door to find a spot on the roster. Perhaps the name to draw the most attention will be 2020 sixth overall pick Simon Edvinsson.

There’s a similar feeling to last offseason where the same question surrounded Moritz Seider. A season and a Calder Trophy later, it’s hard to think of a Red Wings roster without him.
It will certainly be more crowded and the competition a bit fiercer. But there seems to be a lot of optimism surrounding Edvinsson and his chances at being on the opening night roster.
